We are a family of 4 with two boys living with DMD (Duchenne muscular dystrophy). It causes progressive muscle weakness, starting in the legs and spreading to the upper body, affecting the lungs and heart. We visited Shady Maple fairly often. Our favorite event was the Midnight Gladness right before Christmas. December is very important to us because we were celebrating our youngest son’s full recovery from a cardiac arrest, he had almost 4 years ago. The doctors didn’t expect it to make it, and we enjoy the little things in life, like trips to Shady Maple.
