My grandparents used to take us camping down in Lancaster since me and my sister have been very young. Shady Maple became a staple for us to go eat at. My sister, who was an extremely picky eater- LOVES the mashed potatoes offered at the buffet. She used to eat plate after plate. My grandfather, who also enjoyed the buffet, always had a dream to come eat only desserts. Unfortunately, he passed away almost four years ago and never got around to housing those sweets. As both my sister and I got older, we still tried to carry on the tradition of coming to enjoy a meal at Shady Maple and leaving beyond stuffed and unable to walk. I recently visited the buffet and the grocery store to purchase the delicious food Shady Maple has to offer. Recently, my grandmother, who also loved Shady Maple, was put into a nursing home and is not doing well. Her favorite foods from Shady Maple include Mac and cheese, french toast, mashed potatoes, and peaches. I was able to get some of those foods to bring back to her to lighten her spirits. Overall, Shady Maple has become a huge part of our family, where we always feel welcome and enjoy a delicious meal. These memories will forever live on for us as our family continues to live our grandparents’ legacy and love for Shady Maple.
